Overlooking one of Edinburgh's prettiest private garden squares, Kimpton Charlotte Square consists of seven interconnecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town. Our beautifully formed bedrooms and suites are inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality. Sitting proudly in the middle of the hotel is The Garden bar and restaurant, an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. Light and bright during the day for breakfast and lunch, transforming in to a fairy lit hideaway in the evening for cocktails and dinner. Sample our Twilight Tea, a unique take on the classic afternoon tea with a focus on savoury flavours from 12pm to 10pm every day. BABA restaurant is a sumptuous, relaxed journey to the Levant, featuring mezze, charcoal dishes and small plates with bold Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours perfect for sharing. Cocktails take on the adventurous flavours to continue the journey until late in the BABA bar.

What an absolutely beautiful experience at the Kimpton! This hotel offers exceptional customer service. Every single person I encountered was kind, courteous, and attentive. Special shout out to Dean and Raghda in Guest Relations. I was upgraded to a room with a view of Edinburgh Castle, and with it being my first time in Scotland, it made it extra special. We loved the daily happy hour! After a long day of exploring, it really allowed us to wind down at the bar and relax. There was also free popcorn to go along with it! The room was decorated beautifully! Snacks and complimentary water. Beds were extremely comfortable as well. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making my stay extra special by also sitting with me, and giving me recommendations for where to go for a great Saturday night (we loved the speakeasy - The Blind Pig!) The location of the hotel is also very quiet, and off the busy street, but super close to everywhere. We walked to all of the sites nearby, and truly enjoyed our weekend stay!

Check in process was smooth and received an appropriate room upgrade (The room was very lovely, although as a Diamond member the hotel could have upgraded to an available suite I was almost glad they didn't since the room on the special side of the hotel was better). In some of the higher rooms, the Kimpton includes the mini bar so that was terrific for convenience if you prefer not to go to the grocery store yourself. Breakfast was great and you can order al la carte if you wish. Baba restaurant I thought was really good for the location and offered good value given it's right at the hotel and the food was lovely. Kimpton also has a social hour from 5pm to 6pm that I only found out about on the last day but it's good for unlimited drinks and you simply pay for food ordered. Unfortunately was woken up at 12am due to a radiator noise on the last day but the hotel was able to resolve it by moving to another room after being unable to fix the radiator for a little while. Would have loved to stay in this room longer but was on a road trip out to Invernochy castle afterwards.

My wife and I recently spent two days at the Kimpton in Edinburgh, and it was an absolutely delightful and memorable stay for both of us. The hotel itself is quiet, gorgeous, and extremely comfortable, all while being centrally located in the city. It’s easily walkable to the Royal Mile for history buffs, countless pubs and restaurants for food lovers, and charming local neighborhoods for those hoping to soak in the more quaint aspects of Edinburgh. The hotel is also just a five-minute walk from the tram, making it incredibly convenient for arrivals from the airport or anyone looking to explore other parts of the city. The hotel staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Check-in was a seamless and quick process, including a brief but helpful tour of the property. When we realized we had forgotten our outlet adapters, the staff kindly delivered a couple to our room — along with a small box of delicious chocolates from The Highland Chocolatier, which was such a thoughtful touch. Breakfast at the Kimpton is absolutely not to be missed. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, from the bright, sweet juices to the bold and comforting haggis. We also dined at BABA, the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, where we split several small plates. The meal was outstanding — we especially recommend the cauliflower shawarma and buffalo mozzarella, both of which were unforgettable. In short, the Kimpton offered a perfect combination of comfort, convenience, and thoughtful service, making our visit to Edinburgh even more special. We would absolutely stay here again.

I spent 2 nights at the Kimpton, and I truly wish I had stayed for longer. The start of our stay started hours before check in when a member of the reception team contacted me via text to welcome me to the Kimpton and ask if there was any way they could assist. I requested the use of hair straighteners for the duration of my stay, which were in my room apon check in. We arrived hours before check-in, but the staff checked us in non the less and stored our luggage until we could enter the room. We set out to explore Edinburgh, but by 12 p.m., I had received a message stating our room was ready and keys would be available at reception. We headed back to the hotel where we were given a tour of the facilities before heading to our room. I had opted for a premium twin by the lift. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. At 5 p.m., we headed down to the bar to enjoy the complimentary happy hour. We had a choice of wine, larger, cider, or soft drinks. We were served by the wonderful Ina, who was incredibly attentive to all the guests. We also spoke Raghda from guest relations. Raghda was fantastic and even helped with a small fun mission that involved a rubber duck for my daughter. Once learning of my task of photographing the rubber duck in different places, she offered to take photos with it and spoke with Zoe (reception team member), who also agreed to photos. Raghda went above and beyond to help us in his endeavour and even gifted a box of shortbread for my daughter, who was delighted by this. I can honestly say this hotel is truly the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at and is now my only choice for when I stay in Edinburgh. The wonderful staff are the making of this hotel.

Highly recommended! The Kimpton Charlotte Square surpassed our expectations. It is a special little gem in Edinburgh. The Kimpton is beautiful, centrally located with lovely amenities. Edinburgh is a walkable city and the hotel was conveniently located near most major sites and shops, and near a variety of great restaurants. Every small detail at the hotel was thoughtfully attended to and the service was above and beyond. The spa and on-site restaurants were wonderful, and especially accommodating to our children who have food allergies. Breakfast at Baba was delicious and the ambience was wonderful. Our room was large for European/UK standards and had incredible views. The staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and accommodating. We had considered staying at The Balmoral and The Caledonian and are so happy that we chose the Kimpton instead.
