Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong

We recently stayed at the Island Shangri La for two weeks. My husband, daughter and I lived in HK for a long time so this was a homecoming of sorts and the choice of hotel was an important part of our trip. Given its location, reputation and facilities, the Island Shangri La was an easy choice. From the pre arranged airport pick up to the in room check in, it was a very smooth process. There were a few hiccups along the way but these were addressed when raised and dealt with in the loveliest possible way. The staff went out of their way to be kind to our seven year old daughter. The Easter events organised by the hotel were delightful and the children had an absolute ball. A special thank you to the following members of staff: Auntie Scarlet at Island Gourmet, Yumi at Cafè Too, King at F&B, Vanessa at Rooms and Tiffany at the front desk. Five star hotels are aplenty in HK but the Shangri La has a particular old world charm that is unmatched by the others. Thank you to the entire team at the Island Shangri La for taking such good care of us and we cannot wait to return to Home Kong.

In recent years, I suffered frozen shoulder, knees and hips pain which made my life very inconvenient. On my birthday this year, My husband sent me a present-healing treatment by Master Franz Polanen in Island Shangri-La HK. To be honest, at the beginning I thought it was just like a usual traditional SPA or Massage. Until finishing the first session of treatment, I totally understand the essence and power of his unique skills and techniques which combined Chinese Qi Gong, Japanese Reiki and his own recipe. Master Franz tailored the treatment according to my personal situation and needs. After 90 minutes treatment, I immediately felt blockage of my shoulders and back was removed. My hips are less painful and able to move flexible. The difference was not for my body, and spiritually I felt energetic with clearer mind. Two more things happened on me, my eyes are brighter and breathing is deeper and smoother. Then I got two more sessions of treatment to improve my physical and emotional health. Here I want to appreciate Master Franz’s amazing healing treatment . Also big thanks to Shangri-La to introduce such great products.

The newly renovated kids floor (45th) are fantastic, with its own kids lounge and workshop activities, and different themed hotel rooms. This trip makes a highly memorable stay at island Shangri-la. All the staffs are friendly and welcoming. One of the best hotel experiences in Hong Kong.

Overall, we had a lovely time at the Island Shangri-la. The hotel is beautiful and located very centrally. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and warm. A particular thank you to Umi (working in the hotel breakfast/lunch restaurant, who took the time to make balloons for our children) and Tom (working at the bell desk, who gave us excellent restaurant recommendations).

Very friendly attentive staff. Hotel is in great location on the island side. Rooms were clean well maintained. Breakfast was wide ranging and plentiful if not always as hot as it should be. We had a good view of the harbour. Beds were super comfy.
