Reviews for Sheen Falls Lodge

A Kerry gem!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Relaxed luxury in beautiful surroundings. First time staying at Sheen Falls and looking forward to going back. The hotel is stylish, spacious and relaxed with lovely staff. It's a special place with nice spaces to eat, drink or chill out. With nice walks on the grounds, the hotel offers a number of activities and a free shuttle to Kenmare town.

Sheen Falls Surreal

Surreal experience… my daughter and I had such a relaxing time here.. staff super helpful .. facilities like Spa/ Jacuzzi were second to none. We ate in Stables Brasserie which had excellent vegan options. We are planning to return in Autumn, ⭐️five star

Lovely place, mediocre service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Service mediocre, bar staff almost seem frustrated by your presence and check-in was awkward and unsmooth, had to wait a good while for our room to be ready. Tried to order room service later on in the evening and was met by extremely unhelpful service and told cold food was only available, and barely any selection, followed by warning i should realise it would take a while. Really not 5* service,

Perfect stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Had a wonderful 2 night’s stay here. The grounds are so well maintained and perfect for a leisurely stroll. Lobby and corridors have lovely art work to browse. Our room with balcony was large, comfortable and all amenities to make your stay happy but of course the views from the balcony were stunning. Food was excellent in the Falls Restaurant and thanks to Theo who looked after us so well. Breakfast was superb, great selection of hot and cold food. The concierge, Brian, collected us in Kenmare town, such a lovely interesting man to chat to. Enjoyed our visit to the pool and staff very helpful there, too. All in all a perfect stay and would love to return soon!

Disappointing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I am frankly surprised by all of the rave reviews of this hotel. My husband and I stayed in 10 different five star hotels during our trip around Ireland and this was by far the most underwhelming. The trouble started at check-in - we tried to use the valet but so many cars were parked there that we couldn’t drop the car off and no one was there to help. My husband dropped me off with the bags as close as we could get to the entrance and went to park. Finally someone noticed me with the bags and came out to help. He asked why I was standing out there - I appreciated his help but it was pretty obvious what the issue was with the overcrowding. There was a small line to check-in - that’s fine - but a staff member told me to come to his desk and he’d help me. Unfortunately people were still being checked in at that desk so I was just hovering awkwardly behind them for 10 mins while they finished their welcome drinks. We were finally shown to our room - what a maze this place is. Our room was very far from check-in and we got lost several times. The carpet needs a refresh - it was stained and coming apart in many places. We had a lovely view of the “falls” - I put this in quotes because our greeter told us it’s all fake anyway. The room itself was lovely but the bathroom needs an update- including the old plastic toilet. Our in room Wi-Fi did not work on any of our devices - we asked for help and their solution was to tell us it worked for them, so they couldn’t help us. (Wi-Fi worked for us at all other hotels.) Dinner at the Stables was hit and miss - my husband liked his fish & chips but my pizza was disappointing. All in all, this was not a 5 star experience for us - the warmth and helpfulness we found at other hotels across Ireland was simply not present here. Also, FYI for Virtuoso bookers - even though we visited in the off-season and the hotel was not busy (besides the check-in debacle), we were not offered a room upgrade as outlined in the package amenities.
