Banyan Tree Lang Co – A Beautiful Escape in Need of Refinement Banyan Tree Lang Co offers a mix of charm and disappointment. While the resort does deliver an exotic and serene getaway in many ways, it also falls short in refinement—especially considering its premium price tag. The Positives: • Service: Truly exceptional. From the flawless check-in to the attentive staff throughout the stay, service is a highlight. We were even able to view and upgrade to a stunning hilltop villa—highly recommended. The buggy system generally works well (though there was a minor hiccup at checkout). • Villa Experience: The new hillside villas are in excellent condition, with spacious layouts, fantastic views, and large, warm private pools. A true retreat. However there are also old villas at the hilltop and the resort should be more clear in the booking setting. Not all 3 bedroom villas are new and in the website it clearly gives that impression. • Breakfast: Outstanding variety and quality. Easily one of the best breakfast spreads we’ve experienced. • Tranquility & Scents: The signature Banyan Tree aromatherapy touches—natural scents, oil burners, and spa-like ambiance—elevate the overall experience. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. • Nature & Grounds: Touring the lush gardens by complimentary bicycle is a delight, though the bikes could use an upgrade. • Excursions: Our private resort tour to the Hue Imperial City was exceptional. Mr. Hung, our guide, was truly outstanding—knowledgeable, kind, and professional. One of the best tour experiences we’ve had anywhere. The Negatives: • Beach: The beach, unfortunately, underwhelms. The sand is coarse, the water dark, and the presence of large cargo ships on the horizon breaks the illusion of a pristine escape. • Aging Infrastructure: The resort’s age is beginning to show, especially in the common areas. Rusty fixtures, stained fabrics, and outdated furnishings detract from the otherwise beautiful setting. The breakfast restaurant, despite the excellent food, feels dark and worn down. • Design Choices: Some interior design elements—such as carpets, dining chairs, and room decor—feel dated and lack elegance. There’s a difference between rustic charm and simply being run-down, and unfortunately, many areas fall into the latter. • Saffron Restaurant: The ambiance is inconsistent. While the lamps are beautiful, the rest of the furniture feels mismatched and tired. The mandatory dress code (long pants) feels excessive given the hot climate. Additionally, the “hot plates” used for some dishes pose a burn risk—something we experienced firsthand with little warning from staff (though they handled the incident professionally). • Fitness Center: Small, outdated, and poorly located right next to the vehicle entrance. The equipment variety is minimal, and it really needs a full overhaul. • Main Pool: While visually appealing, the main pool is surprisingly small for a resort of this scale. Guests are directed to use the neighboring Angsana facilities, which are more family-focused—less ideal for couples or adults seeking peace. Given the ample space on the property, a larger lap pool would be a smart addition. Some of the poolside tiles are also in poor condition, though the water quality and furniture were excellent. • Value for Money: This is the biggest issue. At nearly $900 USD per night, we expected a flawless experience. Unfortunately, the aging condition of the resort does not justify the price. For comparison, we stayed at the Regent Phu Quoc for a similar rate and enjoyed impeccable facilities, complimentary meals, and a higher standard across the board. Banyan Tree positions itself as a luxury leader, but without a major renovation or a price adjustment, this property does not meet that standard. Final Thoughts: Banyan Tree Lang Co has undeniable beauty and potential. The service, villas, and natural surroundings are truly impressive. But for the price, guests should expect a more polished experience throughout. With some investment in renovation and greater attention to detail, this could be a top-tier resort. Until then, it’s a beautiful stay that comes with caveats.

Exceptional experience, very nice villa situated on the hill with beautiful seaview. The best resort I have visited so far, the staffs are very considerate, helpful and cheerful. The Spa is superb. My husband and I had a wonderful stay, good place for a romantic vacation.

The Banyan Tree is an incredible place to stay. We had a lagoon villa for three nights. We spent most of the time relaxing in our pool watching the birds and lotus flowers. The staff have thought of everything, incense burners in the room, insect repellent cream in the room, they bring ice cold water to the loungers on the beach. Our hostess was brilliant. She helped us book buggies and restaurants whenever we needed. The food is delicious, the villas are beautiful and the staff are all so professional yet friendly. Breakfast is incredible, with so many options. The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished. The remoteness of the location suited us perfectly as we were then heading off for a few days in Saigon, so we took the opportunity to rest before we headed off to the city madness. The staff were very helpful regarding my gluten free food. They helped me and made changes to the recipes to accountant for my intolerance.

This was our third time at Banyan Tree Lang Co., and for sure not the last. Definitely this place has become our second home, a place where we feel more than welcomed, cared about, where nothing is impossible to be done for us to be satisfied. We are grateful for all the smiles, good talks, laughs and interesting conversations we had every morning with Ms Dao, General Manager, Hieu, Hai, Thien at the Bar in tge evenings, and with so many of Ms Dao”s team of extremely competent and attentive staff. Our host, Bich, is simply amazing. Always helping us with all our questions, wishes and with a lovely smile and turn of eyes when the joke is good. Bich has been more as a friend to us and actually, many at Banyan Tree are. The treatment is just so personalized that we feel ourselves among friends. The property is immaculate, well maintained, beautiful, transmitting calmness and tranquility. I must admit, this time was even more difficult to say “good bye”. Learning and understanding more and more about the Vietnamese culture just fills our hearts with gratitude for having this opportunity, to know this amazing place, and country with so much history and kindness. So, we are just saying now, “see you soon again”! Miss you all at Banyan Tree!
