Shangri-La The Shard, London

This afternoon tea was a highlight of our trip to Europe. We felt incredibly pampered from the moment we checked in at the ground floor to our last sip of tea. The tea selection was outstanding as well as the sandwich and sweets selection. Ana, our server, was delightful and by chance she happened to be from the area of Spain that we were visiting after we were to leave London. If you are looking for the more historic and traditional afternoon tea, this may not fit the bill but if you want a more modern twist on afternoon tea in an unparalleled venue high above the city, then this is it.

Our “Go to” Hotel . It has everything. Fantastic architecture, interesting location, the most wonderful views across the best City… daytime or night time. The staff are amazing / welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The swimming pool on the 52nd floor is magical … smart Gym too - all with fantastic views from Tower Bridge, to St Paul’s Cathedral, Tate Modern etc. etc. Cocktails in their Bar is an amazing experience. Breakfast in their restaurant with the views, is a wonderful start to the day. Stay one night or more - it’s just a unique experience… hard to beat in London !!

A nice round table set up for small parties of up to 10 people. One has a choice of different teas , topped up each time with a new cup and saucer. You could also have coffee etc on request.Then comes the delectable small buns( finger sandwiches) stuffed with smoked salmon, coronation chicken, roasted dry aged beef & truffle egg.Then you have platters of savouries like beetroot parfait and parsnip & truffle burger. Another treat is the scones , either plain or with raisins. Last but not least a selection of sweets like sticky toffee, raspberry compote ,black sesame. Finale is the Shard chocolate served on dry ice creating a mystical appetising mood. The sandwiches and savouries were plentiful and we all ate to our fill. To sum up our nice tea experience we were also pleased with the service by waiting staff. Any additional requests like non dairy or gluten free were also entertained. Shangri la ( as always) does live up to its brand name and standard!

The true highlight of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff — every team member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our visit extraordinary. Their thoughtful gestures and personalized attention elevated our experience far beyond our expectations. Our room was equally impressive, offering a perfect blend of luxurious comfort and refined style. The view from our window was absolutely breathtaking, creating a serene and memorable backdrop for our stay. Every detail, from the impeccable cleanliness to the high-end amenities, reflected a commitment to quality and guest satisfaction. This hotel effortlessly combines world-class hospitality with stunning accommodations. We left feeling not only relaxed but truly cared for — and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

We hosted an event at the Shangri-La last Saturday. It was a high tea lunch and it was amazing. The service was superb and the food really amazing. Everyone enjoyed the views and took a lot of photos taking home these wonderful memories. I would like to thank the following staff members especially who made our event run smoothly.
