Urso Hotel & Spa, Madrid is a brand new venture by designer and architect Antonio Obrador, and it’s Madrid’s pioneering five-star boutique. It’s also the city’s first purveyor of a branded luxury hotel spa, helmed by prestigious Spanish skincare specialist Natura Bissé. Descend to a sultry ground floor hideaway for facials enhanced by Balearic citrus extract and diamond dust, or venture outdoors to peruse the independent boutiques and eateries along Calle Fuencarral. The look of the hotel is indelibly unique – marble and honey-toned woods mix with neo-classical elements of the building’s past and black-and-white photos that document Madrid’s evolution.

Really nice four night stay with kids and husband. Excellent service. The teddy bears on our children’s beds was a nice touch. Great location…a quieter area but super close to everything, both walking and via two very close metro stops. The hotel itself is beautiful. Old charm but updated. The vintage elevator was a particular delight for our children. We had a two bedroom suite, which was great for our family of four. Breakfast was excellent and the food in the lobby bar was great too. The food in Casa Felisa was not as impressive but the service was great.

We really are disappointed here. Reception staff don't have a friendly attitude (doormen are lovely though). For the 5* price which is ALOT, I was expecting alot more but my 4* hotel near the airport was FAR better. You're paying for a very affluent location here as opposed to the room. Breakfast is extra and beware there's no kettle in the room either. You only get 2 nesspresso pods per day included in your price and everything else is chargeable. Nothing special at all.

Incredible hotel. We had the deluxe room. So spacious. Staff was amazing and helpful. Breakfast amazing! We were on the street so it could get noisy but added to ambiance and experience. Just fantastic experience and would stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was facing the Mercado which has a gym with loud base pumping from very early to very late which was not appreciated. The hotel reception area is lovely as is the bar area. Welcome drink token is a nice touch. Sadly the spa was a huge let down and this was the main reason we chose the hotel. We paid €70 for 2 adults to access what can only be described as a cold plunge pool. We couldn’t stay in the pool for more than 5 minutes as it was really cold. Having complained the spa team said the temperature is their choice. Disappointing. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Pillows were very flat though. Location is great - walking distance to lovely cafes and shops. Overall 4 out of 5. Not sure we’d return.

Our stay at the Urso was marvelous. My wife and I arrived very late our first day and feared that we would be unable to find dinner, but Mustafa, one of their servers, quickly helped us receive a fantastic meal. His professional and caring service prepared us for what was to come as everyone we met went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Luciano, the concierge, helped us get a great room upgrade (We are Hilton diamond members), Miguel and Luis helped us throughout the stay, and then arranged a fantastic breakfast picnic to take to the airport since we had to leave before the hotel breakfast opened. Be sure to enjoy breakfast in the conservatory; the ambiance is gorgeous, and the food is incredible. Their Eggs Benedict is the best I have had. Finally, we had dinner at Casa Felisa, the hotel restaurant, and it was the best of our time in Madrid, beating the two-Michelin-restaurants we visited earlier in the week. If you go, be sure to try their Iberico Ham appetizer and their aged tenderloin. All in all, the best way to sum up the stay is that a lot of hotels have spas, some have really nice spas, but the Urso manages to make the entire experience from the lobby, to the restaurants, to the rooms, as relaxing as their well-appointed spa. 10/10.
