Gaia Hotel & Reserve

The week started great! We had a beautiful view, the food was amazing, the staff was attentive. We had a couples massage and booked excursions through the hotel every day we were there. We did zip lining, waterfall tour, kayaking. Everything we did was through the hotel. The last night of our stay as we were in the tiered infinity pool my husband and I were talking about how we might go back every year. However, that night it all changed. That night (we later learned it was a maintenance person) robbed us in our room of every cent we had and stole some personal possessions (we had money go missing two other days), I started to feel ill but chalked it up to being robbed. We notified staff right away- they gave us the amount of cash he took the last day. They apologized and fired the guy. They didn’t reimburse us for any of the other money he stole on different days or valuables or offer any type of discount, nor even a complimentary drink- they actually joked about billing us extra. That day I had a headache- when we got to the airport I noticed I had a huge abscess on my head. Once home I continued to become more ill leading to having to go to the er- turns out I contracted dysentery while there. On top of being very ill I lost work time and had to be followed by the county health dept I live in. Again notified Gaia but no apology. So in short- we were robbed, I got an abscess and dysentery, and Gaia did not even attempt to make it right. If you want the trip that just keeps giving this is it!

Costa Rica is an amazingly beautiful country and our whole experience was excellent. The Gaia is within a beautiful reserve where we saw sloths, monkeys, lizards and gorgeous scarlet macaws. The room was amazing - we had the 1 bedroom suite which came with a rooftop terrace, incredible views, peaceful and very spacious. The staff are perhaps the best part of the Gaia experience. They are so nice, accommodating and helpful. Jose was our personal concierge and he was terrific - literally anything we needed, any question we had, he was available to answer or help. The wait staff were all great as well especially Tony, Brandon and Johnny. We highly recommend and will definitely come back. The only downside for me is that they don’t have many gluten free options for meals.

Stayed at Gaia for over a week and it was amazing! The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. The location was beautiful, with lots of wildlife on the property, and it was easy to access both towns (Quepos and Manuel Antonio). I did the spices tour, the National Park tour, the mangrove kayaking tour, and the macaw tour on the property, and all of them were fantastic. Highly recommend this place, I will be back!

We absolutely loved staying here! Everyone was so welcoming. The views are stunning from all points of the hotel. They even gave us a free upgrade, which was a great perk for our wedding anniversary celebration! We saw so many animals on the property and enjoyed swimming in the pool. The food is so delicious. We would recommend this to anyone coming to this area. They have free shuttles to Manuel Antonio and guided tours through their hotel. The best part was of course seeing the scarlet macaws on the property! We loved the manual Antonio tour- for those who love animals and nature, this is very doable and fun!

This was the 5th hotel that we’d stayed in on our honeymoon Costa Rica travels. I can honestly say the stay from start to finish was the best I’d ever experienced. We were greeted with much help and a refreshment at reception. Our concierge, Catalina was extremely helpful and helped us with any questions/needs. The rooms, studios and grounds are perfect… the hotel has its own reserve with trails so wildlife is on your doorstep… beautiful to wake up to. All the staff are soo friendly and go above and beyond to help you with any of your needs… Johnny makes the best cocktails… Abraham is welcoming and helpful with luggage/golf buggy drop offs and pick ups. He is also informative for local amenities for travels. Although the hotel has everything you need and the food is out of this world… breakfast, lunch and dinner. Totally recommend the fine dining menu with wine to compliment each dish. We can’t thank Gaia Hotel and Reserve enough for our stay and we will look to come back and stay here again in a couple of years time. Thank you again, love Colleen and James XX PURA VIDA ❤️🇨🇷🙏🏼
