The Langham, Melbourne

Firstly - about the hotel, fantastic location, superior level of accommodation and facilities, friendly staff, excellent restaurants, breakfast and club level experience. Secondly - terrible check in experience, the Langham had cancelled our booking, fortunately QANTAS - who we booked through had the booking as confirmed and active. Most disconcerting and causing unwanted stress whilst at the check in counter, where other patrons can hear your conversation with the concierge staff. This was a stay for our 34th wedding anniversary, we had flown from Queensland, not what we expected at all. Further to this, part of our package was a $100 to spend on food and beverages, on 2 occasions my wife was told by staff that this could be spent in the gift shop, one concierge staff stated a note would be made against our booking to this effect. On returning home and checking my account I noticed that a deduction was made against my credit card for a purchase at the gift shop. Speaking to the manager at the Langham regarding this I was told that no purchases could be made at the gift shop. I explained I had been told staff I could by 2 of the Langham's staff identifying them. I did not get the courtesy of a return call from the Manager regarding the outcome but had to wait for an email, and later check my account to see I had been reimbursed the amount credited against my credit card. In total this was a very disappointing experience for my wife and I, not what one would expect by the Langham. Lastly - would I stay at the Langham Southbank again, absolutely, notwithstanding the issues we had it is still our preferred Hotel. I would hope the issues we had do not arise again for us or any other patrons in the future. Normally I would give 5 stars for service, on this occasion, sorry only 4.

We found the Langham Melbourne lived up to our expectation regarding service. The executive level on the 24th floor was outstanding with exceptional staff who made our stay beyond what we expected. The views of the city and the yarra river and beyond were breathtaking. Our suite was amazing with all we needed for our stay.

I enjoyed my recent stay at the Langham. When I arrived the staff on valet parking were very friendly and efficient and I felt welcomed. I was checked in quickly, by another very friendly staff member, and my bags were bought up to my room efficiently. The view out of my upper floor window was absolutely beautiful and looked over the city and river. The room, while an older style decor, was lovely and the bed and pillows really comfortable. The breakfast buffet was great, with a good range to choose from and again the staff were friendly. For me the location was very convenient, with the bridge directly opposite and the railway underpass taking me straight to the tram I needed to catch. It’s also in a perfect location, with a lot of restaurants and things to do close by. I highly recommend and would stay again.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and once again it did not disappoint. From the time of our arrival to departure, all the staff we had contact with were so friendly and helpful and always done with a smile on their face. Food is also very good.

What a wonderful and gorgeous hotel the Langham is. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite and it was beautiful. Breakfast at Melba, then in room breakfast the next day - superb!
