Reviews for Andaz Mexico City Condesa

nice hotel in great neighborhood

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

wonderful neighborhood and clean hotel with comfortable bed, friendly and helpful front desk and concierge, and nice to have cold water/tea in the lobby, as well as sodas available. Had issues with sink and shower, which required a change in rooms in the middle of the night without apology or offer to upgrade for the inconvenience, which was the only fault found. Would recommend for future stays.

Noisy and overrated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

No soundproofing - windows let the sound and noise of car honking, sirens and vehicles in the room as if they were open wide. Also situated in a rough area of Condesa Staff nice but not able to solve much Rooftop extremely noisy attractions masses of average tourists It’s also wedding central It made out vacations stressful - not memorable AND very pricey.

Overall not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Rooms were noisy as the noise from outside and adjacent room was very load. Water in the shower was cold, after service call it was same. Some of the staff is very unfriendly and did not cater to reasonable request of the guest. Not worth the price of the room.

Not the best five star hotel in Mexico City

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

After staying in the Sofitel Mexico City for the first five nights of our stay, we were looking forward to staying in the Andaz for the remainder of our trip (two nights) to close out our vacation in Condesa. The area around the hotel is great with multiple restaurants within walking distance and the hotel also has a few unique restaurants and bars within its structure, including a great matcha/coffee bar. However, outside of that, the hotel experience was somewhat bland. The rooms were dull, our shower was broken and the water did not drain appropriately, and we only received 2 bottles of water per night despite being in a city that does not have potable water. It was a stark contrast to the excellent experience we had at the Sofitel which had rooms that were above expectations. In addition, although the lobby staff were nice at check-in, there was not anything special about the service afterwards and at check out, the bell hop took two out of our six bags and left us stranded in the lobby only for us to find out 10 minutes later that he was not coming back for the extra bags. Although these are small things, they collectively added up to the experience being more of a three star hotel rather than a five star hotel.

Fantastic Experience Overall!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

April 2025 Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Andaz Mexico City Condesa with wife and 17 year old son. It was our first time in Mexico city which we enjoyed tremendously. The hotel is perfectly situated between the charming Condesa residential neighborhood, and the very hip Roma Norte area and only a short walk from both. We researched hotels very thoroughly before our trip and decided to settle here due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews, incredible views from the rooftop lounge /pool, and candidly, it was the only hotel in the entire city that had rooms with two double beds available that week that wasn't an extremely expensive 5 star property. The only other hotels that had rooms with two doubles available that week were Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, St. Regis and Sofitel, all of which were out of our price range. Apparently rooms with two double beds aren't common in CDMX except at a select few 4 and 5 star properties so demand for them is very high. Every staff member we interacted with be they at the front desk, concierges, housekeeping and bar and restaurant were very courteous and professional. We didn't realize before booking that the week leading up to, and following Easter Sunday is one of the the biggest holidays of the year in Mexico with much of the country off for those two weeks, so the hotel was booked solid and the staff extremely busy throughout our stay. The city in general was apparently even busier and more vibrant than normal that week so we were very fortunate to have found a room with two double beds at a decent hotel at that time. Especially only two weeks in advance. There are a few things to consider. As others have mentioned, the rooftop pool is very small. Maybe 15 meters long by 10 meters wide at best. There is only a tiny area within the rooftop bar to put your things before taking a dip. The incredible view more than makes up for that though, so for us, this was no problem at all. We looked forward to our late afternoon dip after roaming the city for hours every day of our stay, but all you can do is soak and take in the view for a few minutes. You can't swim laps and there are only 3 lounge chairs that are submerged in the pool since there's no room to walk around it. If you're expecting anything close to a resort like pool experience, you'll be disappointed. The overwhelming majority of the rooftop space is for the restaurant and bar. The pool is an afterthought. Our room (and we assume most others) was very dark with few lights. We called the front desk shortly after checking in late in the evening, and within a couple of minutes, a staffer brought up a large and bright standing lamp which came in very handy and was essential during our stay. That it took so little time to be delivered was very impressive, and a harbinger of the service to come throughout our stay. Room size was small but adequate although storage/closet space for luggage and clothing was extremely sparse. We were there for 5 days and had a lot of stuff, so that was frustrating. All double bed rooms at the Andaz are directly across from the elevators on each floor. We weren't thrilled about that and asked if we could change rooms but were told all of their two double bed rooms are only in that area on each floor. We were also on a very low floor overlooking the busy Avenida Insurgentes. Thankfully, noise from being in a room directly across from the elevators wasn't really an issue but we would have preferred to be on a higher floor with less street noise, but again, changing rooms wasn't an option since the hotel was fully booked. On the plus side, the bedding was very comfortable and what you would expect for this level of accommodation. The bathroom / shower was amazing and akin to a 5 star property. Despite a few minor issues, we would absolutely stay here again and recommend the Andaz Mexico City Condesa highly and without hesitation! Even if we could afford to stay at one of the aforementioned 5 star properties, they are all on the Paseo de la Reforma in CDMX's central business district, so we were thrilled to learn that the Andaz is in the charming and quiet Condesa residential area, which we had no idea until we wandered the area that first morning. It's also much closer to most of the city's top restaurants and other attractions we visited so that was a major plus and less $ spent on Ubers. Overall, we had a great experience and can't recommend the Andaz highly enough.
