A Deeply Disappointing Experience at Fairmont Monte Carlo – Unworthy of a 5-Star Rating I stayed at the Fairmont Monte Carlo for 14 nights, expecting the comfort and service of a “home away from home.” Instead, it turned into one of the most frustrating hotel stays I’ve ever had. From the start, check-in was dishonest. I had a confirmed reservation for a specific room type, but staff insisted I booked something else - and refused to even look at my proof. Only after arguing back and forth did they finally switch the room. Then came the misinformation. The bellboy told us breakfast was included for all 14 days. When I checked with another staff member, I was told it wasn’t - and would cost €70 per person, per day. When I raised the issue, I was met with excuses, deflection, and zero accountability. I was even laughed at by the front desk when I mentioned how costly their mistake could have been. The service throughout was equally poor - cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. Not once during my entire stay did I feel welcomed or respected. As a result, I chose not to spend a single cent at any of the hotel’s restaurants or bars, including Nobu and Amoo. They simply did not deserve my business. Housekeeping was unacceptable. Used shower caps were taken out of the garbage and put back in the shower. Basic amenities like body wash, tissues, and slippers were never properly restocked. What upset me the most wasn’t one single mistake - it was the pattern of negligence, dishonesty, and lack of care that lasted the full two weeks. Not one staff member ever followed up or took true responsibility. The “5-star” label may apply to the building, but not to the experience. If you’re expecting luxury, hospitality, or even basic honesty, look elsewhere.

For a large hotel, this must rank as one of the best. Its located a short walk to Casino Square, so your in the centre, the heart of Monaco. The entrance is huge, very spacious though busy. The staff throughout are extremely helpful and pleasant. The general decor and cleanliness is exceptional as are the rooms, which are larger than averge and have undergone a full refurbishment to a very high and luxurious standard with large modern en'suite. We had a sea / harbour view room which had a balcony with table chairs but only one lounger. The new pool area with cabanas and loungers are very nice, there's also pool side service, this is grest if you don't want the din you get from Niki Beach disco at the main pool area. The breakfast self service type buffet is exceptional with a vast choice of food served on the 7th floor so has wondeful views with some outside tables. There is a choice of different restaurants within the hotel, but the Lobby Bar restaurant headed up by Jean-Baptiste and his team offer a wonderful choice if you want a relaxed meal while overlooking the Med and Monaco Harbour entrance in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Really can't fault it.

We had a fantastic experience at Amì, the rooftop restaurant at the Fairmont Monaco. The views over the harbour were absolutely stunning – one of the best dining backdrops we’ve ever had. The food was exceptional, truly some of the best I’ve had in France (and that’s saying something!). Service was excellent; fast, attentive, and full of great recommendations for both food and drinks. We had booked a table in advance, which I highly recommend as it gets busy, especially with that view. The location is ideal, right next to the iconic Grand Prix hairpin bend, perfect for photos and people-watching. We’d definitely rush back next time we’re in Monaco!

Upon arrival, we had to switch rooms three times! The first room was seemingly in the basement, had no air conditioning, and the bed sounded like it was 100 years old with squeaky springs! Our second room had a safe that was not secured at all and simply sitting on the shelf, waiting for someone to remove it along with our valuables. The hotel management was not extremely helpful and simply offered us a drink in the bar for all of our troubles. Not being drinkers, we just ripped it up. I’m sure if we had the money of some of the many other guests, our concerns would’ve been addressed more quickly and efficiently. Well the room on the six floor was well appointed and comfortable, the noise from the pool on the seventh floor, and the scraping up tables and chairs in the restaurant on the seventh floor, made a good nights sleep difficult. There doesn’t seem to be any design to prevent excessive noise to guests. To add insult to injury, because they had all of the doors open in the restaurant, there were a high amount of wasps and even birds. As a result, I was stung by a wasp before breakfast had even been started. Extremely disappointed and it definitely affected our overall visit to Monico. This is definitely not even a four-star hotel and should be avoided at all costs.

This hotel has a phenomal location in Monte Carlo without a doubt. We stayed for a week and enjoyed it. On the positive side you get a hotel with a great location and the staff is overall friendly and service minded. Breakfast view was beautiful and food was great. On the negative side, it is a bit of a party hotel with Nikki beach on the rooftop. It felt a bit too much at times with noisy guests in the middle of the night. Also the house-keeping was not good and they forgot to clean twice.
