Grand Hyatt Baha Mar

I'm writing this review because the Hyatt handled this situation so poorly, I feel like prospective guests would want to know. My husband and I traveled to the Hyatt baha mar for his work, our room was selected for us. The first night, we woke up repeatedly due to being so itchy. After the fifth time waking up, I began inspecting the bed for bed bugs (in the dark room, with my flashlight). I didn't find bugs but I found so many other things - dirt particles and most of all, hair. A bigger clump of knotted hair (NOT mine) but also small, short hair. Once I put the light on the sides of the mattress (I.e the part you don't actually lay directly on top of), and saw more of the same, I knew the sheets were not clean. Mind you this was the night we checked in, and we hadn't actually gotten in bed until we went to sleep that night. I called the front desk at 4 am and spoke to the overnight manager, who sent housekeeping over and they changed the linens. I showed that person the areas so he could see what we meant and he agreed. The manager told me that the head of housekeeping would be in touch with us the next day, but no one ever came by, and when the housekeeper came by to clean and I told her the situation, she couldn't have cared less. Once the sheets and duvet had been changed, we went back to sleep and neither of us itched at all! I'm still grossed out thinking about the possibilities of what was causing us both to be itchy. My husband responded to a survey after our trip with this information and the response was basically, sorry that happened. I'll also point out that the rooms are really basic- there's a coffee machine and iron, but not much else. One pair of slippers (we had 2 people in our room, no robes). Our balcony railing and exterior walls had cigarette ash and burn marks like someone put their cigarette out- another thing housekeeping overlooked.

From the moment we checked into the moment, we checked out was nothing but a pleasant experience, the staff were so attentive and welcoming especially . Chader Pinder PBX. The pools and beach were outstanding. Our dinners at Cleo, Stix and Marcus were excellent! The Jazz Club had great live music.

This hotel continues to go downhill. They raise the prices, including Hyatt point redemptions, and decrease the service consistently. Staff have no concern or compassion and are generally unhelpful and have no pride in their work. There is no ownership for guest services and no follow through. This hotel is not worthy of being a Hyatt Cat.7

I visit this hotel regularly for business, and Erick Aredondo always goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. He’s professional, accommodating, and genuinely kind. His excellent service is one of the reasons I keep coming back. Highly recommend!

Bahamar We stayed here with a group of 19 adults and children. The resort is very large so be prepared to do a lot of walking. The kids loved the water park but it was quite a hike from the main building. Not a problem for the kids though! If you want to eat on property make reservations as soon as you book the resort. Also, reserve your chairs and cabana right away. We took a taxi several times to Atlantis. The fare, plus tip, was $40 one way. The casino was very nice because it was no smoking and it was enforced! Some of our group took a boat tour and they had a great time. However, there was no where at the hotel to quickly pick up a sandwich to take in the trip, so plan ahead! The room was cleaned daily and the housekeepers were nice.
