The Reef House

An amazing experience from prior to arrival. The wonderful warm pre-arrival contact from Cedric was very welcoming and dour our mind at ease for our anniversary celebrations. Beautiful room upgrade on arrival due to the special occasion. Do yourself a favour and join the cocktail making and wine appreciation classes, it’s a great way to interact with other guests and the staff. Evening punch by the pool was also a great way to relax and meet some new friends from around the globe. So many return clientele were at the hotel and after a great weekend you can see why. We are now part of the family and hope to return each anniversary.

Reef House is a very special piece of paradise on Palm Cove. We had the most wonderful 9nights at Reef House and can’t wait to return for our 3rd visit. Each time we come back, we stay for a longer period!!

The Reef House was recommended and booked by my travel agent with Journey South. This hotel is advertised as a luxury hotel and we booked the Verandah King rooms. The features advertised was a stunning four poster King bed, which we did not get. The hotel is really old and falling apart. My desk lamp had an extension cord running across one of the couches. The rooms are in bad need of a remodel. Eveything in that hotel is old. Our driver mentioned it was the first hotel in palm cove, and if we are in the new section or the old one. i said the old one, how is the new section. He laughed and said it is newer, not new. We went to dinner and had the dinner charged to my sister's room. We found out they charged the dinner to my older sister as well as my younger sister. It was a good thing they checked their bill. Also, this hotel asked for a credit card to provide a deposit for incidentals, as with all hotels, but this one kept the deposit and have not returned it to our credit cards, and it has been a week since we left. My sister has to call the credit card company to complain. I would not book this hotel nor advise any one to book this hotel. I think they are in desperate need of money and kept our deposits to make interest. Sad.

Upon arrival my partner and I were greeted warmly and with open-hearted sincerity. Our allocated room was a king room with balcony with kitchen amenities, a double bathroom, ample and comfortable seating both indoors and out on the balcony. The bed was soft and spacious, the pillows ample. It became our home away from home for two weeks...and our refuge. The choice of pools added to our options and our daily delight. The complimentary meals were without doubt delicious and the spa massage, cocktail making lesson and wine tasting which came gratis with the package we chose were both unexpected and truly appreciated. The included breakfasts were substantial though due to the length of our stay a change in the menu would have been welcomed. Unfortunately there were days when the bread was stale and virtually inedible. Some days it was perfect. A small but not insignificant detail which might be addressed. The staff across the board were a wonderful presence at the Reef House...helpful, personable and attentive. It was great to see such cultural diversity and to have the opportunity to get to know something about the background of each. Though certainly not a cheap holiday it was certainly one which we'll remember with fondness and will recommend to others.

We stayed here over the Easter break and the location is incredible. Upon checking in we were greeted with a smile and down if the inclusions. The property has a truly relaxed, tropical feel with an undeniable touch of luxury. The pools were absolutely exceptional — beautifully maintained, inviting, and, best of all, adults-only. It made for an incredibly peaceful atmosphere that’s rare to find. The service was friendly and professional, and the overall ambience of the hotel was serene and charming. However, guests should be aware of the rather exuberant 15% surcharge that applies on public holidays. It did feel steep and is something to factor in when booking your stay. That said, the overall experience was fantastic. The Reef House delivers a uniquely tranquil escape, perfect for couples or anyone wanting a quiet, upscale retreat. We would definitely return — just maybe a little more mindful of the dates next time!
