Beautiful underrated hotel in the heart of Paris

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I will admit that I was a bit nervous staying here. Since it was part of Marriott I thought it would feel like an American hotel that was corporate and not luxurious. To my surprise this was not that! This Art Deco hotel was magnificent. Location was perfect for whatever you like in Paris. You are near everything but slightly removed as well. The entry to the hotel is consistent with its art deco theme but although it has a bit of a sterile feel in the lobby the front desk staff bring the warmth. They were welcoming and kind throughout our stay. Because my husband is a Titanium Bonvoy member, I am sure our upgrade was because of that! But our room was a gorgeous suite, decorated so perfectly that the Art Deco theme grew on me. Their welcome surprise for my birthday was so kind. Like the entire staff. The staff make this hotel because they are all simply kind and helpful and dedicated. Specifics: Room: most comfortable bed and linens! Bathroom: standing shower and lovely tub. I don’t know if every room has this but the tiles in our shower were gorgeous! Towels and bathrooms highest quality and lovely Entry: beautiful Living space: beautiful and comfortable, looked out to Rue George V and got an amazing breeze and viewed Dining: we only tried the Bar 1920 which was again art deco theme but had a reasonable selection of cocktails but I think for France should have a better wine selection but by the glass and bottle. Again staff were lovely and welcoming. Gym: it was not open sadly! I really wanted to use the gym and it wasn’t clear why it was closed. They offered some place close by but it was not ideal for our timing. Staff: Helpful with reservations and anything we needed. We needed ice for my husbands knee and it came Ina sealed bag! Turn down service was lovely. Help at the front desk better than any other Parisian hotel I would definitely stay here again. I loved the kindness ebbing from their team as well as the location. This had an understated feel of luxury and I was very pleasantly surprised. We will need to visit for longer but thank you for making my short visit and birthday a touch of luxury!

Do not stay here, especially if you’re American

Would NOT recommend staying here and would never stay here again myself. The front desk is rude and does not like Americans. Karla at the front desk messed up our stay and upgrade telling us marriott denied our upgrade when that was not true. Karla also blamed us for the error saying we did mobile check in when we never did - she later admitted they checked us in. Karla was very argumentative and unhelpful and then speaks French to coworkers and they laugh at you. Horrible experience. Gym also was not available for use during our stay.

Magnifique!

Lovely stay at the Prince de Galles. They guaranteed two connecting rooms in advance and they delivered! (Which is always a miracle when travelling with kids). We arrived at 8:30 AM and I had no expectation that our room would be ready. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the first room was ready at 11 AM. I had read previous reviews about the rooms being warm. The room definitely ran warm. Couldn’t get it below 19 degrees. Luckily it was April so that wasn’t too bad. It might feel different be in the heat of summer. Free breakfast with Marriott status was delicious. But I didn’t have it every day since I was in Paris and prefer to explore patisseries and Boulangeries. The hotel’s Japanese restaurant was fantastic. A better choice than their French restaurant (1920) Hotel location was good for Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysee. A little further from the Louvre and Le Marais. Close to a metro stop so it makes it easy to get around Paris. The hotel is beautiful. I loved the Art Deco design. I would definitely stay again! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Prince De Galles. Can’t wait to return,

Perfect location for a weekend in Paris…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Prince De Galles is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. We were here for a girls weekend and were upgraded to a Mosaic Suite with twin beds. The furniture was plush and the rooms were clean and well- stocked with anything one might need. The hotel has stunning Art Deco architecture and opulent interiors. It is the perfect blend of classic elegance with modern sophistication. The staff were kind helpful and friendly. No one seemed to mind our poor French, and all seemed to truly happy to have guests at the hotel. There is a great gym in the basement, and a lovely outside courtyard where we were able to enjoy cocktails after returning from dinner. The best thing about this hotel is the location. This is a location that cannot be beat if you want to explore Paris for the weekend. It’s situated within walking distance to the Arc de Trimphe, the Eiffel Tower (about a mile walk, just over the Seine) and more luxury boutiques than one can count. It’s about 35 minutes to the airport, 40 to Versailles and 10-30 minutes to various museums depending on traffic.
