Grand Hyatt Shanghai

I used to love this hotel for location, large rooms, great views, impeccable service, and outstanding breakfast. However, this time I felt ignored as an older Western traveler. Wait times at front desk and bell desk were long, and Chinese customers jumped the line ahead of me. When I had my turn, staff were polite and efficient as usual, but it troubled me that they allowed the rude behavior of others. I skipped breakfast because I was warned that it would be too crowded. This has been a problem the past few times I stayed. Good for them to have a popular offering, but it disfavors their guests. The exterior of the building was undergoing work, so the usually stellar view was marred by extremely dirty windows. Still, the room was quiet & spacious with large comfortable bed (but no coffee maker…pot for boiling hot water for Nescafé).

Very strategic location accessible through Metro. Easy to get around and to get to and from the airport. Great view of the bund. Very comfortable room. Toilets are equipped with high end bidet. Lounge has the best view of the bund and its surroundings. Lobby is located on the 54th floor. Very helpful staff from check in counters to the concierge, housekeeping and restaurants. Our family enjoy our 5 nights stay at Grand Hyatt Shanghai. Good job for the Grand Hyatt Shanghai team and thank you for your hospitality. We will be back again for our next visit to Shanghai.

We had a wonderful time in Shanghai and loved staying at the Grand Hyatt with breathtaking views from the hotel — which starts on the 54th floor and goes up to 87 floors. Our room was beautiful with amazing views — very clean and comfortable. We also had an incredible set meal at Club Jin Mao on the 86th floor with many delicious, traditional Shanghainese dishes. Lastly, the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all in great condition and really enjoyed the time there. Grand Hyatt is a good location on the new side of Shanghai walking distance to the Pearl Tower, shopping nearby and a train station to go to the other side.

The hotel is about 25 years old but maintained relatively well. We were upgraded to a full view room as a globalist member. The room is quite spacious and nice, but there was a noise all day long outside the window. The breakfast at on56, very messy, with the staff running back and forth to lead the guest to the table. Dinner at the lounge is very small choices compared to other grand hyattt hotel in Asia. And food quality is not that good, for example they have sausages in one tray and mini hot dog in other tray.. honesty feels like worse than hotel staff canteen. Definitely need more improvement of guest service and staff training. Feels like very robotic service with no passion. As a free night award is not bad but I won’t go back.

I had an excellent stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. I stayed in one of the suite rooms with view of the Bund river and Oriental Pearl Tower. The service was excellent and the staff were all very helpful and kind. Natty in the business center helped me ship a package and Rhea in the grand club lounge helped me with many other questions. Would definitely stay here again.
