W Punta de Mita

The property is going through a refresh and while we did miss the colorful and local decor it still has the essence of Mexico. The food is amazing…shout out Spice Market. The staff is what really makes this property worth the return. I feel terrible that I don’t remember the names of the guys at the pool and Chevycheria who were consistently making our day lovely, thank you gentlemen. It was my birthday week and there must have been a note on my room number as everyone made an effort to celebrate with me. The concierge team is outstanding. Gustavo and Anna…gracias! You’re truly the definition of excellent and professional service. Jesus/Diego took excellent care of us at breakfast. The beach is spectacular and clean. The grounds are straight out of Jurassic Park. The location close enough to town and far enough to disconnect from reality. We rarely revisit a property, this one is extremely special and we will continue to return.

General: rooms are basic, staff is not the friendliest, beach isn't maintained, beach is not private, cleanliness was an issue overall, food venues were pretty good.... Specific: We have experienced a great number of issues and inconveniences throughout our stay: a front door that didn't lock, housekeeping issues where they couldn't get our room cleaned for more than half the time as they couldn't schedule it correctly, a dirty floor upon check in (hair and dirt, not just marks) a shower that backed up sewage (video shown to front desk).. they were to extend a credit which was still far from being considerate for the challenges experienced and now on top of this we were charged for something we clearly didn't agree to or sign for by their adventure/excursion team. They pretended to credit us for our challenges by saying they were doing something for us but in reality it was already part of our booked package. It's been weeks of back and forth.

Wow, we wish we could give 10 stars! Been coming here for years, it's one of the best places I've stay around the world. It's crazy beautiful, lush jungle on a perfect beach. They have 2 gorgeous pools, one of which is for adults only. The food and drinks are phenomenal, I recommend getting a mezcal margaritas with grapefruit and ginger, and the tuna ceveche tostada with peanuts and pumpkin seeds, poolside. Both restaurants are incredible too, The Spice Market has a jewbox of an interior with and Asian inspired menu that knocks it out of the park. The people and the service are of a St. Regis or Four Seasons level, personable, friendly, welcoming, and so very helpful!! We are already planning to return this next Winter!

We had a thoroughly lovely 3 nights at the W Punta De Mita - the room was super comfortable with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The Spa facilities are super high-end and the staff there were just lovely and so friendly. The food options were good too - we actually loved the Spice Market so much we had dinner there every night - the food was off the charts good! The property is huge and well cared for. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and accommodating from check in to check out. Morning coffee and cakes at Rubra was lovely too - very happy and would definitely return.

Big mistake coming here. Their website clearly says the restaurant is open until 11pm — it’s not, it closes at 10:30. They don’t honor Bonvoy or Amex Platinum upgrades (we have both — didn’t matter). The light in our room is broken, it smells like sewage, and the “sofa” is a beat-up bench. Mini bar? Completely empty. We called the front desk right away to try to cancel and go elsewhere — they refused. If you’re looking for a budget option, go with the Conrad. If you actually want a nice room, spend a little more and stay at the St. Regis or Four Seasons. Maybe if you’re 20 and just need a crash pad this would work. But if you have any real expectations, you’ll be seriously disappointed by the W Punta Mita.
