MEN AND WOMEN SHARE PUBLIC BATHROOMS Latest check-in times in the area. Desk staff unfriendly and have no interest in helping. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH CHASE. THE EDIT RIPOFF You will not receive early check in, regardless of paying for the "possibility".

Idol Wold Dinner

Kevin at valet was extremely helpful. He shared lots of good information about things to check out and where to go. We visited Idol Wolf for dinner and Kevin made sure we knew where we were going and gave us directions to check out the art gallery as well. Dinner at Idol Wolf was incredible. Evey bite was delicious and service was great.

Promising/exciting new hotel slowly diminishing due to Housekeeping and Management

I’ve been visiting St. Louis for over 12 years now, and for a long time, I made a point of trying a new hotel each time — until I stayed at 21c. That first visit changed everything. Since then, it’s been the only place I book. The energy of a newer hotel, the people it attracts, the unique feel — it had something special. It was exciting. But the real magic has always come from the staff, especially the bar and restaurant team. People like Carson, Cam, Jojo make this hotel what it is. Their attention to detail, the effort they put in, and the way they connect with guests — it’s second to none. They turn a hotel stay into an experience. They’ve been a big part of why I’ve felt at home here. Over the years, they’ve gone from familiar faces to people I genuinely consider friends. But during my last visit, I was disappointed — and not in them. The room simply wasn’t clean. Not in a "missed a spot" way, but in a “shouldn’t have been signed off” way. Mold in the shower, someone else’s hair left behind, amenities not replaced, stains still there from who knows when. Once you start noticing things like that, you can’t not notice them. You even start looking for more — and sadly, you find it. Even after I mentioned the issues to staff — and again, not their job to fix — they still apologised, offered a credit off my bill (which I was grateful for), and even left a bottle of their own branded gin in my room the day before I checked out. Lovely gestures. Genuinely appreciated. But here’s the thing — none of that addressed the real problem. The next day? The mold was still on the shower floor. And that’s the frustrating part. You go to all that effort to make a guest feel looked after… but don’t actually deal with the issue itself. That makes it feel more like a cover-up than a solution. I’ve never had any interest in tearing down 21c. I’ve sent clients and colleagues here for years. I’ve told them they have to go to "experience it". For a short stay — a couple nights — I still would. The front-of-house staff alone make it worthwhile. But for anything longer, like the 9 nights I stayed this time, if you care at all about the cleanliness or comfort of your room, I honestly can’t recommend it right now. The standard that 21c once proudly set for itself has been allowed to slip — and that’s tough to watch. Value for money? No question — it’s there. Staff effort and vibe? Genuinely the best I’ve come across. Cleanliness and management oversight? Right now, letting everything else down. I may visit 21c again. I hope to. But something needs to change. The team out front are working too hard to create something special, only for it to be undone by what’s happening behind closed doors. They deserve better. And honestly, so do the guests.

Norhing but terrific

We have now stayed at 3 of the 21c museum hotels, and we aim to get to all of them. This location has lived up to our high expectations. Our corner king room was spacious and elegant. May I please have a bathroom like this one in all my hotels? The attractions of a 21c hotel, of course, include the associated restaurants--which as usual were superior--and also the art gallery. The exhibition while we were there--pop art and pop culture--was one the the best shows I've seen in quite a while. Whoever curated this show--well done! Now I will mull over which 21c we'll book next year around this time.
