Enjoyed a tremendous experience at this first-rate establishment! We particularly loved associates Jeancarlo, Mara and Carla. They were amazingly helpful and friendly to us throughout our stay! Would choose the El Convento again next time.

If you’re dreaming of a venue that wraps Old-World charm around modern hospitality, stop scrolling—Hotel El Convento is it. We hosted our wedding in the intimate Salón Campeche, and from the moment we crossed the century-old threshold we were treated like bona-fide royalty (crowns, sadly, not included). Nelia Sánchez orchestrated every detail with the calm precision of a seasoned maestro. She anticipated questions we didn’t even know to ask, ensuring our décor, timeline, and late-night snack cravings were all spot-on. Her team mirrored her grace—smiles on standby, problems nowhere in sight. Special shout-out to Christopher, our reception guardian angel. He hovered just enough to keep champagne topped and nerves steady, disappearing the instant we looked totally content. That thoughtful balance turned a great evening into an unforgettable one. In short, El Convento blends history, heart, and hospitality so effortlessly that leaving felt a bit like abdicating a throne. If you want your wedding (or any stay) wrapped in warmth and tradition, this is the place.

We stayed two nights in El Convento while visiting old San Juan. The location is ideal, and the staff are exceptional! The front desk made a great restaurant reservation and guided us to various activities. Bell boys Jean Carlo and Luciano were both extremely helpful. Also coffee available in the morning and wine and cheese in the afternoons on the third floor patio were nice additions We bought prepaid breakfast tickets, which I would not do again because the menu for these was very limited to eggs and toast. If we go back to old San Juan would definitely stay here!

My husband and I had our Welcome Happy Hour at Palacio Provincial (sister property of Hotel El Convento) on April 3, 2025, and our wedding at Hotel El Convento on April 4, 2025—and truly, it all felt like a dream we never wanted to wake up from. The space at Palacio Provincial was absolutely stunning—elegant, timeless, and the perfect place to kick off our wedding weekend. The staff that evening was incredibly kind and attentive, and it made us even more excited to see many of them again the next day at the wedding! My then-fiancé had toured Hotel El Convento while in Puerto Rico for a bachelor trip in December 2023, with me on FaceTime, and I immediately fell in love with the black and white checkered floors. Even without seeing it in person, I just knew this was the place we were meant to get married. We booked it with Nelia in January—and that’s when the magic really began. Nelia was our fairygod catering manager! She answered every question and concern with patience and grace—whether over email or phone—and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the entire process. She brought warmth, professionalism, and a true sense of family to every interaction. We had the best time at our tasting with her (and our planner, Karen!), and were so impressed by how thoughtfully the chef incorporated our feedback. The food on our wedding day: absolutely delicious—especially the lechón! From the moment we checked in, the entire staff at Hotel El Convento—front desk, bellhop, servers—welcomed us with open arms. I cried at the end of the night when the wedding was over, and again when it was time to check out. Our friends and family could not stop talking about how phenomenal the staff, food, and venue were—it made the experience unforgettable for everyone. Hotel El Convento and its incredible team will always hold a special place in our hearts. My husband and I are already planning our return to relive the memories, and we hope to one day bring our children here to show them where it all began. We’d get married here again and again in a heartbeat—and I’m actively trying to convince all our friends and family to do the same so they can experience the magic too!

What a beautiful hotel. This converted 300 year old convent feels almost like we were staying in a museum. The exposed beams, massive wooden doors, iron grates, the courtyard. Style, but with modern amenities. Very comfortable beds. The staff is super polite and accommodating. We were treated like royalty. The wine and cheese reception was a plus. The location in Old San Juan is perfect. I can't remember staying in such a perfect hotel.
