South Caicos
South Caicos exists today as one of the few unspoiled tropical destinations. Among the smaller islands in the Turks and Caicos Islands, (eight square miles), South Caicos is renowned for white powder beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, ocean-side bluffs, quiet bays and salt-water flats teeming with pink flamingos. Cockburn Harbour town is home to most of the island’s eight hundred (800) residents. With Caribbean-inspired homes on narrow streets lined with native stonewalls, the village harkens back to a simpler time and lifestyle. The charming and authentic Caribbean atmosphere of a village imbued with hundreds of years of rich history and culture is a rare find in a resort destination.
Environment
Relatively untouched by humans, South Caicos’ reef system is considered the healthiest and most vibrant in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Over fifty (50) species of coral abound, with spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, grouper, snapper and dolphin fish all part of this spectacular reef system, making it a premier SCUBA diving and snorkeling destination.
The waters surrounding South Caicos offer a diverse and spectacular background. The turquoise waters to the south and east turn to a deep cobalt blue just past the coral reef system, where the water drops from fifty (50) feet to seven thousand (7000) feet. It is here where anglers find world-class offshore sport fishing for sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi, marlin and yellow-fin tuna. The shallow waters of Caicos Banks to the west, is considered a haven for bonefishing.
Sailrock
Sailrock is a low-density resort & residence community, set on the southern portion of Sailrock Peninsula. Situated on a ridge sixty feet above the sparkling Columbus passage to the east and the Caicos Bank to the west. Sailrock boasts spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Clean Caribbean architecture defines Great House, with large, shaded verandas, and pool decks, which place the emphasis on casual comfort and laid back outdoor living.

Absolutely incredible 7-night escape to Sailrock Resort in South Caicos with my wife and two daughters (ages 18 and 20)! From the moment our plane touched down until our reluctant departure, the entire experience was truly outstanding. Here are some highlights that made our trip so special: Seamless Arrival: Kiki's warm island greeting at the airport was the perfect start! Our friendly driver, Francis, efficiently handled our luggage for the quick 10-15 minute ride to the resort. Warm Welcome at the Great House: Upon arrival, we were greeted by a fantastic team including Takiera, Levy, Harvey, Alden, and Ashley. The refreshing welcome cocktail and chilled towel were exactly what we needed after traveling. Harvey's engaging introduction to the resort and the surrounding area immediately put us in vacation mode. Exceptional Dining Experiences: As we opted to dine solely at the resort (though we heard there are great off-property options), we were blown away by the nightly variety. Dinner offered a completely different and delicious menu each evening – every appetizer and entree was fantastic, leading to lots of sharing so we could sample everything! Portion sizes were perfect, never leaving us hungry. We especially loved the "downstairs" dinners at the Cove Restaurant on the Caicos Bank side for breathtaking sunset views on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The post-dinner bonfire with s'mores was the ideal way to unwind. Lunch at the Cove boasted a diverse and excellent menu, and breakfast at the Great House was equally impressive. A massive thank you to the incredible food and beverage team: Dao, Kubir, Roberto, KarlyAnne, Earl, Katherine, Agus, Mario, and many others whose names I may have missed – your genuine friendliness and attentiveness made us feel so special. It's clear Sailrock values its staff, and their dedication shines through in the guest experience. Unforgettable Activities and Adventures: * Cove Beach Fun: We had a blast learning to Hobie Cat sail with the patient and helpful Rickey. Junior and Jose were always ready to assist with the kayaks, and paddling around the calm waters allowed us to spot some amazing wildlife, including green sea turtles and a baby nurse shark – so cool! * Peaceful Guided Kayak Tour at Jerry Camp: Our kayak tour with Ben was a highlight. Paddling through the tranquil channels from Jerry Camp to Plandon Cay was incredibly peaceful, and we were thrilled to see nurse sharks, rays, and even a tarpon! Lunch on Plandon Cay with the local iguanas was a unique experience. We finished the tour by searching for sand dollars at the beautiful Little and Big Sand Bar Cays. * Amazing 3-Hour Boat Adventure: Our excursion with Captain Dave and his mate Avante was truly the best! We visited a sandbar teeming with what must have been over 100 magnificent starfish in their natural habitat. We then cruised past the Salterra Resort by Marriott before heading to Long Cay (Iguana Island), where watching the iguanas interact for treats during our lunch was entertaining. The grand finale was snorkeling at Admirals Aquarium – a reef absolutely teeming with vibrant tropical fish. It was the best snorkeling I've ever done, and the whole family agreed! I could honestly rave about Sailrock and its incredible staff for much longer, but I'll save some details for our next trip – because we will absolutely be back! This was an amazing vacation that exceeded all expectations.

Unhurried. Unspoiled. Unworried. Perfection. Since returning from Sailrock Resort a week ago, I have shared with everyone who has asked us about our trip that it was the best vacation we've ever taken. Because it was just that. A true vacation. Where we didn't worry about a thing. Where we were loved on and cared for by the exceptional staff. Where we truly lost track of time. Do not come to South Caicos or Sailrock if you are looking for action-packed, are looking for a daily itinerary of activities, or thrive on adventure. Do come to Sailrock if you want to experience some of the most spectacular sunsets, silkiest sand, sparkliest turquoise waters and to feel spoiled and seen by the staff. We took the new Miami flight which was easy peasy and spent 8 nights at Sailrock to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. From the moment we stepped off the flight and were greeted by Kiki, we felt our worries melt away and welcomed to the island and to the resort. My bag did not arrive (never made it onto the flight at our destination) and my first call to American to sort it out ended in tears (mine). Ashley on the staff said "do not worry - we've got it from here." My bag was delivered the next day with minimal involvement and was able to purchase some necessities in the small gift shop to manage overnight. We stayed in a spacious and immaculately clean Ridgetop Suite (Suite 9A) that was decorated for our arrival to celebrate our anniversary. We were also welcomed with a blue ocean welcome drink at check-in and a complimentary fruit plate in our room. Andre even threw in an extra full-size blue ocean to help offset the anxiety about not having my bag. The bed was comfortable, the views from the suite were lovely and had plenty of room to stretch out and relax on the patio sofa, in the seating area in the suite or in one of two outdoor soaking tubs (one in our own private courtyard area). The primary way to communicate with the staff was through Whatsapp. We used the app to communicate about the missing bag, to request ice or extra towels to be delivered to the room, to inquire about dinner or to request a buggy to take us to the another part of the property. The property is fairly spread out with the main beach at the Cove (with beach chairs, towel service and umbrellas) and the staff happily transports you from place to place because as they repeatedly reminded us "We're on vacation" and they are there to take care of us. Ricky or Junior greeted us every morning at the beach to set up our chairs and get us settled for the day. They also made sure that the Hobie cat, kayaks and paddleboards were set up and would help you get the watercraft in and out of the water (and show you how to use them) throughout the day. This feels like the right moment in this review to shout out the exceptional staff members. Every. Single. One. of the staff is devoted to providing a relaxed and caring environment for guests. From the moment, we walked in, they knew us each by name and treated us like family. While each and every staff member was incredible, would love to give a few special shout-outs: to Agus, the incredible mixologist who helped us create special memories during our mixology class and who also is the mastermind behind the Little Soldier (just trust me - order it if Agus is behind the bar - and savor the creme bruleed disc made on top of a lime that makes the whole beverage); to Karyl, whose smile lights up a room and whose kindness made every breakfast and dinner meal a delight; to Kathy, who made lunch at the Cove an event and brought laughter, fun and care everywhere she went; and to Ricky, who greeted us every morning and got our day started on the right foot. Also, to Mario, Ashley, Kiki, Benjamin, Jerome, Kevin, Junior, Kabir, Earl and Deo, thank you for your smiles, your care and for making our anniversary trip so very special. You care for hundreds of guests each month, and make each feel special. Thank you for you all you do. We did the mixology class and had massages (in a secluded hut where you listened to the sound of the waves during your treatment) which were both wonderful. We had a snorkeling excursion booked (and heard phenomenal things from other guests who went on the excursion), but we ended up cancelling, because for us, just being on the resort and enjoying the beach each day was what we most wanted. We were early birds and arrived early enough to set up in the gazebo each day and it truly felt like we had the beach to ourselves. The pina coladas were on point (especially those made by Agus and Mario) and highly recommend the ginger or coconut mojitos. The breakfast and lunch menus were the same each day (and are available online for viewing) with a rotating daily special. The dinner menu changes each night - some dinners are down at the Cove on the beach (with the most perfect sunsets each evening and s'mores for desert) and some are at the Great House, but each dinner service is memorable. We did not have the same dinner menu once in 8 nights. Please do not expect Michelin-star quality (especially given the difficulty of getting ingredients on the island), but do expect interesting menus that change each evening to offer variety, substantial portions of well-prepared, Instagrammable food prepared with love. Our favorite entrees always involved the snapper or dorado. We also will not soon forget the duck croquettes, duck confit and the cajun potato soup with sausage. And do not miss out on the fish and chips entree and hummus appetizer at lunch! I would also be remiss if I didn't mention how the other guests at Sailrock also added to our experience. We met other couples who were exceptionally kind and will be friends for life - especially Jay and Amy from Fredericksburg, Texas, Allison and Al from California and another couple from Dallas who on the day of check-out gifted us a bottle of prosecco to enjoy. The clientele that Sailrock attracts are interesting, kind and the type of folks you want to engage in conversation with and stay in touch with long after leaving Sailrock. Lastly, I just want to mention that the sunsets here are to die for. We have spent time in Aruba, Curacao, Grand Caymon, on cruise ships and there was just something incredibly special and picturesque about the moment that sun seemed to sizzle on the horizon at Sailrock. It was so spectacular that even guests at the only other resort on the island took a taxi over to Sailrock (paying the taxi fee and a $120/pp resort fee) just to spend time on the beach at sunset. If you are at all hesitant about booking, don't be! Run, don't walk to Sailrock. You won't be sorry. I will literally be counting the minutes until we are able to return. (And the staff encouraged us to bring our teenagers with us next time! We'll see about that) Thank you, thank you, thank you to Sailrock and its staff for a much-needed respite from a crazy and chaotic world and for helping create core memories that will never (and I mean never) be forgotten.

Sailrock is a beautiful hotel - one of two on the island and the other hotel is just opening up. Very relaxing get away with the Atlantic ocean on one side of hotel and Caicos bay on the other! ALL the staff were super friendly and provided high-end service. A shout out to Kiki and Ashley and ALL the staff.

We had an amazing time. We did take the new Miami flight and was so easy. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in a one bedroom villa for 10 days. It was super private and peaceful. A few things to note that the resort is on a peninsula which the villa and rooms are on one side and the beach and Cove are on the other side. We were not aware of that. It was super windy on the sound side which is the villa side so we could hardly use the pool. Of course this is not the resorts problem but just to point out. Our villa did have a washer and dryer however I wish we had know before and we could have packed lighter and brought detergent. We did think it was also strange that could not walk from our villa to the beach. We asked about moving to a villa that we could and we were told that we could not. The resort was not full so I thought that was strange. The check in process was also odd in that we were walked to the villa and never explained anything about how to get lunch, call a buggy. We had traveled all day and we were hungry for lunch so it was an exhausting start trying to figure out how to get lunch and where to go, who to call. The first few hours we were not happy. Oddly, the resort did have a loss of power the first time two hours and the second time for just a few minutes. I did think that during the first power outage during dinner, the manager should have been checking on guests that were still in the rooms or villas. With the power outage you had no way to get a ride to the Cove for dinner, call for room service and we had no lights other than our phones. However, we noticed the manager was having dinner with business partners. I feel like the resort should have def checked on guests during that time. We did enjoy the variety of the menu that changed daily for dinner. Another thing to point out which I hope the resort reads in this post is that beach service is non-existent. They are totally missing out on money with service of drinks and food to the beach. They have one person working the beach towel service area and never comes to check on you and offer you to purchase anything else during the day. You could put flags on the chairs when you are ready to order or need service. The other person is lazy and is irritated when you walk up and need a beach chair and towels. I would change this policy and get some help at the beach. You are missing out on big money. We did the meal plan because we were staying for 10 days and didn't know what to expect to pay for prices and taxes associated with the resort. I did think that with what we paid we should have been able to order any drinks that were on the menu without any extra fees. We had emailed the resort prior to arriving about but groceries for the villa and were told the resort had certain items however upon arrival we were told they did NOT have them. This was a little irritating as we would have packed and planned to bring those items. Communication is def not clear. I do think we will consider returning however I think things should be fixed to make this a five star property.

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week and everything was exceptional. I love the privacy of the location.. customer service was exceptional, to the manger to staffs. General manger, Putra went over the top by even cooking me traditional Indonesian food because we were talking about it and how I never had it. The view was amazing, food was excellent and I can’t wait to go back.
