I have to agree with RDG. This hotel uses images of their rooftop space at every opportunity, but heaven forbid if guests want to pop up & enjoy the space without all carry-on of a separate booking system. Clearly they prefer the “influencer” crowd.

As a guest in the hotel, I just asked have a look at the roof bar and I was told no. No explanation provided so I have no idea why a guest having a look would be refused. A horrible experience and I be sure to tell as many people as I can not to stay here or go here

My husband and I were excited to stay for our anniversary. Upon check in the staff seemed inexperienced but explained that our package included a free room upgrade and a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates. When we arrived in our room, we realised it had not been upgraded so we checked with the staff who then moved us straight away. The next room had a strange smell and was overlooking a carpark roof which did not appear to be an upgrade. The staff moved us again and advised that our wine would be delivered to the new room. This never happened. We also had to call housekeeping as we were missing face cloths and were only provided one towel. Whilst these were minor inconveniences, the experience was further soured due to response we received to our feedback. Customer service staff Nikki sent a rude and patronising email to myself and my husband, minimising our experience. For that reason, we would avoid this hotel. There are many other hotel options in Sydney with staff who don't fall short of basic service and make their guests feel comfortable and welcome.

Having been to & stayed in Sydney several times, this was my first time at the InterContintental Sydney and it was fantastic. Highly recommend. The hotel rooms are spacious & I did 2 stays - once upon arrival in Australia and then again after touring around. Both stays were wonderful The rooftop bar, Astor, has amazing views and some pretty unique cocktails (one was served in an apple & another in a mushroom glass). The service is great and the food was delicious. The location can’t be beat - probably one of the best in Sydney just minutes from Circular Quay and real easy to get to the airport using the train line. Staff was great & room was spotless & the overall stay was 5/5. Would stay again.

Staff are absolutely wonderful at the Intercontinental and the Club lounge definitely worth it. We had a brilliant long weekend, spent two nights enjoying drinks and food in the Aster Bar on the 32nd floor, which overlooks the Opera House with views across the Bridge and the Harbour. Absolutely outstanding location to celebrate any special occasion. Ours was going to the ballet at the Opera House. Denis the manager was great fun, excellent company and nothing was too much trouble. He obviously spreads this work ethic amongst the staff and they made our stay even more rewarding. A fantastic few days away made all the more special by the Intercontinental's staff. Cannot fault them.
