I’ve stayed here several times over the years but this was by far worse and the last. When I arrived at my room which I paid over $1000 for one night, which was meant to be a special occasion, the room was over 30° when the outside temperature was 23. In the cloak cupboard was a small dead cockroach. The wall art, if that’s what you’d call it, is cheap tacky prints. The room didn’t smell clean. I believe they allow pets to stay, which the smell resembled. In the evening, went to use bathroom upstairs, to find another large cockroach running up the wall. Dining there, the barmaid mentioned my reservation included a complimentary drink, to my excitement. She mentioned, it was a martini that contained coffee. I said I was allergic to coffee, and her response was. That’s the only drink that is complimentary. I had to argue the point, of her insisting that she made the martini for me with the coffee and me insisting that I’m allergic to it. Eventually she offered an alternative. The Ragu with the pasta was a great disappointment, as a favourite dish of mine. It was difficult to spot the meat or anything else other than pasta. For breakfast, I wanted my eggs all done, which were overdone to the point of not being edible. Upon checkout I mentioned my experience and the duty manager advised she would be in contact. I wasn’t expecting compensation but she offered 50% of my next day and a complimentary breakfast during my stay. Also ordered extras from the The room service menu, which was bubble bath and received an email confirmation. I never received this bubble bath nor was I charged for it but did ring the mobile number from this email, to a staff’s dismay. I was contacted by I believe the general manager, who offered one night stay for the least most superior room, whilst my room was the most superior. I felt this is disingenuous considering all that it happens but I also felt that if this was the kind of service that this hotel now offered, I wasn’t interested in returning. Overall, very disheartening because years ago it was a great place.

As an event professional of 25+ years I have worked and stayed at too many hotels to recall. Whilst the outer appearance is important I maintain it's nothing compared to the service you receive and the way the staff make you feel during your time together. But what an impressive space Ovolo Woollomooloo is, with a unique and eclectic mix of furnishings and artwork, it has a soul and a personality which is apparent from the very first moment you arrive. There's nothing generic about this hotel it is simply delightful and full of things to explore and discover throughout your stay. So when you set the bar this high, you need a front of house team who maintain these standards and what an incredible team they are. I had the pleasure of spending my 50th birthday here and during my stay every single member of staff were incredibly attentive, kind and authentic. The staff work incredibly hard and it's clear they are passionate about their unique venue and so they should be. Special mentions must go to Mehul Desai (General Manager), Rachel Charters (Manager on Duty) who are exceptional hospitality professionals and truly believe in what customer service is all about ! And to Sam and Deepa who always had the biggest smile at breakfast time. I can't recommend this venue enough, if you're looking to escape the bland and want a genuine experience nettled in the very cool district of Potts Point this is where you should be heading. In my opinion Ovolo Woollomooloo really is a very special hotel and is a solid entry in my TOP TEN best ever experiences.

Wow. What a gorgeous hotel in a great location. I had been a little wary of staying here after reading some of the previous reviews but we could not have been more delighted with this hotel. The rooms were great (we loved the decor) and the whole place was very clean and tidy. All the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Loved the pool and gym. As for breakfast…again mixed reviews but I have to say the choice available was absolutely spit on. Everything was fresh and the cooked to order breakfast was really, really delicious and incredibly filling. Thank you to all staff for helping to make our stay in Sydney a wonderful experience. Just wish we didn’t live on the other side of the world or we would be back in a flash.

We had booked a multi city trip from Canada, and had a quick one night stop at the Ovaloo. Our trip was interrupted due to Cyclone Alfred, but thankfully we were still able to proceed with our vacation, our dates just got bumped around. Despite giving the Ovaloo 2 weeks notice, they refused to refund us, essentially saying that the type of booking we made was non-refundable. While this may partially be my fault, you would think that given the circumstances (a natural disaster, beyond our control), they would make an exception. Very disappointing.

Don’t put us in rooms above the wedding as it’s sooooo noisy !! When we checked in we even asked can we please have a quiet room. The noise in our room was unreal and we were on floor 4. (Room 418) Now we have stayed here for 10 + years and will return and hence didn’t rate down too much. It has comfy beds and cool rooms .One other thing guys most hotel rooms these days have at least a Nespresso machine in the room so not having that is a miss too.
