Conversational murmurs and tinkling piano rise through the atrium, shouts of laughter accenting the melody. Joy understood in any language. There’s a sense of intrigue here that is impossible to place, much like Taipei itself: a melting-pot metropolis infused with Chinese, Japanese and Western influences, where Taoist temples stand next to gleaming skyscrapers and hot springs steam the base of the Tatun volcano group, a mere 15 km. (9 miles) north of the city.

Stayed here out of convenience because our event took place in one of their function rooms. The lobby is grand, the room is spacious and luxurious although the decor is a little dated. The fact that they still use physical keys says alot, which also means the lifts are not restricted to in-house guests only. Even the aircon in the room is still turn-type thermostat. The room is abit like a junior suite where there's an additional door separating the entrance and bathroom from the bedroom. I do wish the lights are brighter, too dim for my liking. The side table lamps and floor lamp are also manual control, so you have to turn them on/off one by one. The bed is firm but the pillows are too soft and sinks without support. Clean and spacious bathroom, do note however they don't provide single-use disposables so bring your own toothbrush. The water pressure in the standing shower is good, but the hot water for the bathtub is not hot enough. Location wise isn't too convenient. The MRT is about 7 mins walk away, considering you also have to go downslope from the hotel lobby which is situated above a park at the top of the slope. There also isn't much else around in terms of local food and stuff, except for 7-11. It's connected to Regent Galleria in the basement where there are more luxury boutiques from Sisley to Chanel, Hermes, Issey Miyake etc. 5* service, every staff I've met throughout my stay has been most friendly, helpful, attentive, polite and full of smiles.

Some reviews here would have you believe you’ll be sleeping on unforgiving marble slabs; here’s our experience with the beds: “Huh, this is pretty firm. Are we going to be able to sleep on this...?” [10 hours of uninterrupted sleep later] “Wow, we feel great!” It certainly helped that we got upgraded to a corner room with a peek at Taipei 101 in the distance — thanks to the staff and AMEX FHR for that. 👍 Our FHR rate also included the daily breakfast buffet, in the large restaurant at the back of the hotel. Every single morning there was a lineup, and every single morning we were sat within a few minutes of our arrival. I also appreciated that servers were offering drip coffee delivered to our table, saving me from lining up at the espresso machines. And a big shout-out to the lady going around offering fresh croissants, an unexpected but welcome treat! If I was nitpicking I suppose I could point out that the youth-focused surroundings are a bit at odds with the Regent’s more posh vibe. Honestly, though, there’s a Din Tai Fung only a six-minute walk away. What more could you ask for? If the price was right I would 100% book another stay here. Thanks for taking care of us. 🙏

We really enjoyed this hotel, especially being in a Taipan room, so good to use the lounge. The only thing we found was that the mattress was super hard and not at all comfortable for us. The location was great and the views were excellent. We especially enjoyed the food served in the Taipan lounge.

This hotel has to be six star honestly because it was serious lol. The rooms were huge, the bathrooms were all marble, the rooftop pool was sensations, it had a high fashion shopping mall underneath, a seven eleven conveniently nearby, a gym and spa in the basement and a bar/restaurant in the top floor. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms have actual keys instead of the electric key cards which was a nice novelty touch

Bathrooms are outdated and horrible thick caulking. Tub looked dirty. Location was great though! Lobby and driveway had random uneven sloping surfaces that caused my child to trip. They literally have staff standing around telling people to “watch their step”.
